Atlantic Boat Company’s 24 Passenger USCG Certified Launch Hull #77 Brooklin, Maine, May 6, 2013 -- Atlantic Boat Company is pleased to introduce the City of Gloucester's new DUFFY-26 Launch, GLOUCESTERMAN. This new launch has successfully passed the 24+1 stability test and received a temporary COI from the United States Coast Guard.

Gloucester is one of America's oldest seaports with a rich seafearing history of fishing and shipbuilding. Looking toward the future of the waterfront and hoping to improve boaters' accessibility to and from the harbor's 200+ moorings, the city's 28 guest moorings, and a large inner harbor anchorage the City spent two years researching suitable launches before authorizing the purchase of Hull No. 77 of the DUFFY-26 Launch.

Gloucester joins a number of other new Duffy-26 Launch owners since last year: Plymouth Yacht Club (W. DOUGLAS EDWARDS, Plymouth, MA); Portland Yacht Club (JAMES M. CHURCHILL, Falmouth, ME); Larchmont Yacht Club (LYC IX, Larchmont, NY); and Hull Yacht Club (ALLERTON, Hull, MA).

Atlantic Boat Company's 24 Passenger USCG Certified Launch

Brooklin, Maine, April 24, 2013 -- Atlantic Boat Company has completed Plymouth Yacht Club's new DUFFY-26 Launch. The launch successfully passed the 24+1 stability test and received a temporary COI from the United States Coast Guard.

Earlier this year, Plymouth Yacht Club members authorized the build of Hull No. 78 with the optional 75hp Yanmar diesel power plant, Model 4JH4-TE. Located in historic Plymouth, MA, and situated on Cape Cod Bay, Plymouth Yacht Club is one of the oldest yacht clubs in America, founded in 1890.

Plymouth Yacht Club joins a number of other clubs taking delivery of the Duffy-26 Launch since last year: PortlandYacht Club's JAMES M. CHURCHILL (Falmouth, ME), Larchmont Yacht Club's LYC IX (Larchmont, NY), and Hull Yacht Club's ALLERTON (Hull, MA).

Just Launched: Hull Yacht Club’s ALLERTON

Brooklin, Maine (August 27, 2012) -- Atlantic Boat Company is pleased to announce the completion of their newest DUFFY-26 Launch. ALLERTON slid down the ways and passed her Coast Guard stability and construction tests, receiving a temporary COI authorizing the use of ALLERTON at HYC. Her new owner, Hull Yacht Club, completed sea trials and accepted the boat for delivery.

When the Coast Guard introduced a new regulation raising the weight of the average person from 140 pounds to 185 pounds Hull Yacht Club, like so many other establishments whose boats fall under the Inspected Small Passenger Vessel regulation, found their boat's capacity dropped from 24 passengers to 18 passengers.

The boat we have chosen is a Duffy-26 launch, built by Atlantic Boat Co. of Brooklin, Maine. The $125,000 vessel, which is 26 feet long, is expected to arrive here by Labor Day.

We have been approached by many members who voiced their concern and frustration over our current launch capacity. With the recent growth of the club membership, and the decrease in capacity of our existing launch fleet, due to US Coast Guard regulations, we believe this new 24-passenger launch is the best choice for reliable launch service for our members.

Brooklin, Maine, (June 14, 2012) -- Atlantic Boat Company is excited and pleased to announce the newest DUFFY-26 launch has slid down the ways. New York’s Larchmont Yacht Club has taken delivery of their new motor launch, LYC IX.

In 2006, the United States Coast Guard increased the weight per-person ratio for its certified passenger launches, to become effective in 2012. The USCG changed their weight expectation from 140 lbs. per person to 185 lbs. and has many yacht clubs and marinas facing a dramatic reduction in passenger capacity of their existing motor launches; formerly able to transport two dozen passengers at a time the new ruling depletes that capability to approximately 18 persons.

John comes to Atlantic Boat with over 25 years experience in the marine industry. Previously employed with the Hinckley Company, of Southwest Harbor, Maine, John served as Mechanical Supervisor/Technical Specialist and brings with him extensive mechanical and systems knowledge for both power and sail.
