Brooklin, Maine (August 27, 2012) -- Atlantic Boat Company is pleased to announce the completion of their newest DUFFY-26 Launch. ALLERTON slid down the ways and passed her Coast Guard stability and construction tests, receiving a temporary COI authorizing the use of ALLERTON at HYC. Her new owner, Hull Yacht Club, completed sea trials and accepted the boat for delivery.
When the Coast Guard introduced a new regulation raising the weight of the average person from 140 pounds to 185 pounds Hull Yacht Club, like so many other establishments whose boats fall under the Inspected Small Passenger Vessel regulation, found their boat's capacity dropped from 24 passengers to 18 passengers.
With their Club's membership increasing and their launch capacity diminished 25% Hull Yacht Club's Board explored various options available to them and decided their most viable approach was to keep their current launch and build a new launch. Through research, the Board discovered that other launch builders are in the beginning stages of the redesign and recertification process and that Atlantic Boat had anticipated these changes and is in compliance with the new regulations. Since mid-June, Atlantic Boat has delivered fully certified launches to Larchmont Yacht Club (Larchmont, NY,) Portland Yacht Club (Portland, ME,) and, now, Hull Yacht Club (Hull, MA.)
Built on the DUFFY 26 hull, it's rugged construction, fine finish, and ease of maintenance fully satisfies the requirementsof a harbor launch. Certified as open launches, canopied launches, and enclosed launches the 24 + 1 passenger DUFFY-26 Launch is built to a high standard to meet our client's needs. Every boat comes standard with all safety and running equipment and is delivered ready for operation. For more information and a complete brochure please feel free to contact us at Atlantic Boat.
