Policies & Procedures

The following Policies & Procedures are designed to protect our clients, workers, and The Atlantic Boat Company. Please read them thoroughly. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us so that we can address them.

  • Invoices will be mailed monthly and are due upon receipt. Payment may be made by cash or check.
  • Accounts unpaid after thirty (30) days shall be assessed a late fee of 1.5% per month, 18% per annum.
  • Any boat having a balance due over sixty (60) days will not have work performed on it and any work already in progress will be stopped until payment arrangements are made.
  • An environmental charge of 1.5% will be levied on all invoices; this charge covers all environmental disposal and containment requirements imposed on Atlantic Boat by Federal and State mandates.
  • All bills must be paid in full before the boat leaves the yard by water or land transport.
  • All rates are subject to change without notice.
  • Jobs estimated to cost over $5,000 require a deposit.
  • While work is in progress, the owner may be asked to make additional deposits in order to keep the account balance under $5,000; these deposits shall be due upon request.
  • All Work Orders shall be in writing and signed or e-mail acknowledged and authorized to proceed by the boat owner prior to the commencement of the work.
  • Work Orders are accepted only on a time and materials basis at the current Atlantic Boat rates, unless other arrangements are specifically agreed upon in writing or e-mail acknowledged prior to the commencement of the work.
  • All Change Orders, which modify the scope of the Work Order, are accepted on a time and materials basis only.
  • In the event estimates for labor and materials have been made they shall not be considered binding; the charges shall be based on the labor and materials supplied.
  • The winter storage season is October 15 to June 15; boats stored through the summer will be charged our summer storage rate.
  • A 50% deposit is required with a signed storage agreement. Boat storage is charged by square footage, which is calculated as overall length by overall beam.
  • All boats must be insured. A Certificate of Insurance is required. It is the boat owner's responsibility to insure his or her boat while their boat is in storage, at the dock, on a mooring, and while having service performed at Atlantic Boat.
  • Boats, cars, equipment, etc. stored or left at the Yard are at the Owner's risk and it is assumed that the Owner shall carry insurance for protection against fire, theft, vandalism, and any other such hazard.
  • Access is required to the interior of all boats when hauled or launched. Combination locks are highly recommended; Atlantic Boat can install a combination lock at your request.
  • Wooden boats are subject to additional hauls and launches [due to swelling the wood] and shall be billed at the normal rate.
  • To ensure safe dockage all owners shall have appropriate lines and fenders onboard their boat prior to launching and hauling.
  • Boats not picked up on time will be stored on an Atlantic Boat mooring at the usual and customary daily rates.
  • Boats stored outside: Atlantic Boat shall not be responsible for water or weather damage (including snow load) in or on any boats that remain uncovered, covered by customers, or when covered by Atlantic Boat personnel in severe weather situations.
  • Atlantic Boat's policy is that yachts shall not be stored with the mast(s) stepped or with any mast placed on deck.
  • Boat launching and hauling will be scheduled during regular working hours; labor outside regular hours shall be subject to a higher labor rate. The Yard will not be obligated to launch or haul a boat with less than two week's notice.
  • Off-season hours: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
  • Launch Season: May 15 to June 15, weather dependant.
  • Haul Season: September 1 to September 30, weather dependant.
  • Launch and haul season hours: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday
  • 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • Work being performed on boats whether by owners or subcontractors shall be performed during working hours.
  • Docks and moorings are for the conduct of Company business. Any other use is secondary and must be explicitly arranged with the Yard.
  • No boat shall remain at the dock overnight.
  • The yard's shop equipment is not available for personal use.
  • Visitors and customers shall inquire at the Office before entering any boat or any building.
  • All vehicles must be parked in areas designated by the Office with keys available to the Yard.
  • Owners will be charged any time involved showing or discussing brokerage boats that are not for sale by the Yard.
  • No open flames allowed in any area of the Yard.
  • Shoring and jackstands must not be moved or adjusted by anyone other than Atlantic Boat personnel.
  • Tying tarps or ladders to jackstands is prohibited.
  • Scraping, grinding, paint spraying, sandblasting, welding, power washing, or shrink wrapping is NOT allowed by anyone other than an Atlantic Boat employee or agent.
  • In case of activity interference between the Yard and an Owner, the Yard activity shall have priority.

  • Owners working on their boats shall do so during the Yard's working hours.
  • Do-it-yourself customers need to abide by all safety and environmental rules covered under Yard rules and governed by the DEP and OSHA standards.
  • For environmental reasons, owners are not permitted to sand or paint their boat bottoms on Atlantic Boat property.
  • Under no circumstances shall the Owner stay onboard while his boat is still on land.
  • Because of insurance restrictions, customers shall not be permitted to perform any work while boats are stored in buildings or lifts; owners may perform work on their boats while they are stored outside. Any debris left around the yard will be cleaned up at the boat owner's expense.

  • No work shall be performed by outside contractors, sub contractors, and other paid workers unless hired and managed by Atlantic Boat. a Certificate of Insurance shall be provided and filed in the Office; outside contractors, sub contractors, and other paid workers must register at the Office before performing any work.
  • We collect information from you when you register on our site or fill out a form.
  • Any data we request that is not required will be specified as voluntary or optional.
  • When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your: name, e-mail address, mailing address or phone number. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.
