The Duffy 37 is the newest boat in our fleet. The first hull came out in October 1999. Like all of our boats, the 37 is a built down, full keel lobster boat designed by Spencer Lincoln. The 37 is a slightly larger version of the Duffy 35 with some changes to the under body to increase speed and fuel efficiency. Because it is still a built down hull, the 37 performs much like the proven 35, but allows for faster speeds, more open layouts, greater carrying capacity and better head room.

We offer the 37 in both work boat (main bulk head at 22′) and cruiser (main bulkhead at 20′) configurations. This allows for more deck space on work boats or more room down forward on cruisers. Sport fishermen can go either way depending on their priorities. We custom build the 37 from the ground up allowing for a large variety of layouts and configurations. To date, the 37 has been launched in several versions, including commercial lobster boats, commercial tuna boats, flybridge cruisers, flybridge sport fishing boats, and picnic boats. As of this writing (October 2004) 31 hulls have been built.

We recommend engines from 300hp to 500hp. In some applications engines of up to 650 hp have been installed resulting in speeds over 30 knots. Engines around 400hp are producing cruising speeds, depending on weight, in the 18 to 20 knot range. Several new engines are now available (from Yanmar, Cummins, Cat, & Volvo) from 480 to 540 HP which will produce cruise speeds in light to mid-weight boats in the 25 Knot range.

We have been very pleased with the performance of this hull. She has the sea keeping of the built down style hulls and speed capabilities matching or exceeding any of the newer generation lobster boat hulls.
